A Response to some current events.

A Joke for January 2012:

“I shared the biggest ever batch of classified documents about the inner workings of global governments, corporations and banks, I just got out of the hole where they mentally tortured me. I'm in for life, me.” said the Bad Bwoy.

“I downloaded the complete Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars movies for my grandma, I got five years”

While the copyright on the major works of the Irish Genius James Joyce expired on the 1st January 2012, moving them into the public domain, to my delight, the rest of the world’s literature, film, music, arts and business are threatened by Sopa and Pipa, exaggerated draconian laws which like most bad policy, in fact, work to increase the confusion and do little to curb the problem. I wonder...is Joyce having the last laugh at us all stumbling around within the English language networks and webs, meanwhile, surrounded by the cloaking tech-cloud of all languages, translation tools, and nearly all combinations of languages and possible phrases, slang and everything under the sun, together swirling around in cyberspace, copying itself into a giant bubbling soup, our internet, like Joyce’s Wakean ‘nat’ language, seeking replication and interuption, new combinations.

Tony Bliar: Sports Chimp

I saw that old cheating chimp Tony Blair in a disgusting news item from the even more disgusting, to me, Time magazine reporting his sport campaign that got me hopping mad there for a few minutes yesterday (Jan. 18th) but soon, I realized, he’s not worth shedding many finger strokes over is he? (do I look bovverd?) so I skip the two-faced Bush puppy, war monger-lyer, and move on...Name calling always feels better while typing than reading afterwards.

Faith-Based

Many words have been shed on the general troubles in the middle East, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan. It's complex, I can say that much. Yet I would repeat here my shared hope, somewhat riffing on something I heard from uncle Bob once, the general idea that if all sides in these conflicts were to drop their conflicting--equal and opposite religious faith--which tells them that they and they’re group, party, or nation, whatever and only they’re group, party or nation, whatever; know the divine holy truth, then, maybe, some progress might be made in sharing the abundance of resources surrounding them.

Negotiating towards making global trade, shared resources, without being dictated too based upon some out-of-date scripture or totalitarian spy state system that embodies similar religious 'faith based' ideology, such as: trust in your government and one nation under surveilance. O.K

The problem of faith-based government, meanwhile, gestates in the west causing equal havoc and confusion. Not checking the facts for yourself can leave you with piles of useless, empty bonds, useless laws and law enforcement and, a self-destructive industry built upon munitions, warfare and what Bucky Fuller aptly calls ‘Killingry’. Wake up, think for yourself, stop the war, stop the cuts.

That of all the scum bags to come out in support of the ‘Stop Online Piracy Act’ Rupert Murdoch crawled out from a stone and said (tweeted?) something uninformed and typically volatile on the issue, how do these damn papers and news websites publish his words without reminding us of the recent Newscorp Phone Hacking Scandal? How contradictory his words seem, to me, in the light of facts about that case.

I implore my readers and friends to boycott the entertainment industry as far as the super majors are concerned, and at your own discretion, but, please be conscious of the fact that when you buy movie tickets, and DVD’s and CD’s from the Major labels and production factories your supporting them and their ilk, you are what you buy into, Food, clothing, drinks, music, entertainment, everything you interact with. Nobody is perfect, but make an effort to think. A new war sounds like fighting talk, but a war metaphor is invoked here, this war, to me, started when entertainment industry stared ‘fattening frogs for snakes’ as the saying goes.

(slight rant) It started, I reckon, when the no-playing motherfuckers in the entertainment business started war/relations with those who challenged they’re authority, the content providers, and so begun signing artists and projects based upon they’re commercial viability opposed to artistic merit (e.g see the latest incarnation: Simon Cowell) and openly attacking any and all alternative entertainment culture (see counter counter-culture history) eventually co-opting them to jive with the slick super-global corporate model, presenting watered down snips trickled out to specific segments of the public in pre-meditated programming, interspersed with adverts and flashy edits, censors and any whims of whoever holds the money, at least, thas' I see it, after this recent Sopa/Pipa malarchy and the Hollywood, Pop Music industry and Book publishing house support for an incredibly ill thought out and dangerous set of new laws.

Rollingstone leaks

There’s a great interview with Julian Assange in Rollingstone Magazine which, for me, backs up the reasons I like and support Wikileaks in their work, and Assange as an individual who seems totally committed to his work, tha I find mind boggling in its brevity and daring and staright up genius. The global village crisis as defined by Assange reminds me of hagbard Celine’s Law ‘National security is the chief cause of National insecurity’.

This same sentiment, I think, can be distilled from two recommended sources, Cory Doctorow’s excellent presentation 'The coming war on general computation' at the CCC 2011 conference, and Mark Pesce’s brilliant book/on-line interface ‘Nextbillionseconds’. Both of these network minded individuals deploy a sense of optimism and factual knowledge in their illuminating communications. Both reflect the benefits and the migration of information towards ‘open networks’ and the ‘copy and copy and copy’ nature of networks. Thankfully their exciting and rich language outlines the context of Sopa/Pipa and other ‘net censorship’ projects. Very fresh, highly recommended.

Some of their work draws parallels, to my mind, with the war on some drugs and pharmacological Inquisition. Once again we have policy and laws made by people who have very little experience and knowledge of the field, the abuse of generalized terms, ambiguous phrases and disproportionate punishments for potential offenders. I think that Cory has mentioned this connection, emphasizing the drug war without end, like the war on terrorism without end, defined by who, we may ask? and how? As the boundaries between the chemical and the digital and biological blur, this connection between internet prohibition and drug prohibition may fuse into a general ‘information prohibition’.

I think it’s not in the nature of self-owning humanity, in the midst of a rupture or--information explosion—to stop copying, the shit’s gotten everywhere now and cannot be put back inside any Genii bottle or doggy doo bag. The shits already spread all over the bag and the smell will probably never go away.

HI everybody.I've been following the development of ‘the 2012 phenomena’ and also the more scientific concept of ‘The Singularity’ since I read ‘Cosmic Trigger’ by Robert Anton Wilson and then ‘The Invisible Landscape’ by Dennis and Terence Mckenna, sometime in the mid 1990's.

From these references you might deduct that I have a ‘psychedelic’ bias towards the kinds of maps and metaphors I communicate, this is true, in a nutshell I think that ‘psychedelic drugs’ used in the correct set and setting (see Leary and Wilson) IMPACT the individual in a way approximating the IMPACT that ‘The Singularity’ and the ‘2012 Phenomena’ resonate with, if you choose to TUNE IN. (which I hope to define, somewhat, by this multi-media presentation, relaying some fresh video’s and links which I think summarise our entry into 2012.)

Whatever 'media or drugs' you interact with, set and setting are important, those who have experimented with psychedelic drugs (at some period of their life) generally, seem to have a grasp on strange resonance with topics concerning 'The Singularity' and the '2012 Phenomena', somewhat familiar territoy to those who have expored inner space and outer, poetry and literature, psychology, engineering, mathematics, anthropology, futurism, ethnobotany, games, music, painting etc.

(Please do not ascribe my own 'Psychedelic bias' to the ideas and words from those in the following video's. Just have fun with your thoughts, I'll be back with more feedback after digesting them again). --Steve fly.

Cultural depictions

Children play on Jose de Creeft's sculpture Alice in Wonderland in Central Park, New York. Alice sits atop a mushroom, inviting children to climb up and join her. Whilst the mushroom in the sculpture is not a faithfully reproduced Amanita muscaria, the reference within Lewis Carroll's original literary work upon which the sculpture is based is often discussed.^[112]^[113]

Moritz von Schwind's 1851 painting Ruebezahl features fly agarics.^[114]

The red-and-white spotted toadstool is a common image in many aspects of popular culture, especially in children's books, film, garden ornaments, greeting cards, and more recently computer games.^[32] Garden ornaments, and children's picture books depicting gnomes and fairies, such as the Smurfs, very often show fly agarics used as seats, or homes.^[32]^[115] Fly agarics have been featured in paintings since the Renaissance,^[116] albeit in a subtle manner. In the Victorian era they became more visible, even becoming the main topic of some fairy paintings.^[117] Two of the most famous uses of the mushroom are in the video game series Super Mario Bros.,^[118] and the dancing mushroom sequence in the 1940 Disney film Fantasia.^[119]

The journeys of Philip von Strahlenberg to Siberia and his descriptions of the use of the mukhomor there was published in English in 1736. The drinking of urine of those who had imbibed the mushroom was commented on by Anglo-Irish writer Oliver Goldsmith in his widely read 1762 novel Citizen of the World.^[120] The mushroom had been identified as the fly agaric by this time.^[121] Other authors recorded the distortions of the size of perceived objects while intoxicated by the fungus, including naturalist Mordecai Cubitt Cooke in his books The Seven Sisters of Sleep and A Plain and Easy Account of British Fungi.^[122] This observation is thought to have formed the basis of the effects of eating the mushroom in the 1865 popular story Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.^[112] A hallucinogenic "scarlet toadstool" from Lappland is also featured as a plot element in Charles Kingsley's 1866 novel Hereward the Wake based on the medieval figure of the same name;^[123] fly agaric shamanism is explored more recently in the 2003 novel Thursbitch by Alan Garner.^[124]

[edit] Christmas decorations and Santa Claus

Fly agarics appear on Christmas cards and New Year cards from around the world as a symbol of good luck.^[125] The ethnobotanist Jonathan Ott has suggested that the idea of Santa Claus and tradition of hanging stockings over the fireplace is based centrally upon the fly agaric mushroom itself.^[75] With its generally red and white color scheme, he argues that Santa Claus's suit is related to the mushroom. He also draws parallels with flying reindeer: reindeer had been reported to consume the mushroom and prance around in an intoxicated manner afterwards.^[126] American ethnopharmacologist Scott Hajicek-Dobberstein, researching possible links between religious myths and the red mushroom, notes, "If Santa Claus had but one eye [like Odin], or if magic urine had been a part of his legend, his connection to the Amanita muscaria would be much easier to believe.".^[127]

The connection was reported to a much wider audience with an article in the magazine of The Sunday Times in 1980,^[128] and New Scientist in 1986.^[129] Historian Ronald Hutton has since disputed the connection;^[130] he noted reindeer spirits did not appear in Siberian mythology, shamans did not travel by sleigh, nor did they wear red and white, or climb out of smoke holes in yurt roofs. Finally, American awareness of Siberian shamanism postdated the appearance of much of the folklore around Santa.^[131]

The fly-agaric Among the Siberian Populations
The use of the hallucinogenic mushroom Amanita muscaria (Fly agaric mushroom) is attested in Siberian regions in the images of prehistoric rock carvings of various archaeological sites in the rivers Yenisei and Pegtymel . The ethnographic reports of the last century documented use as intoxicating in different populations.

Its use is attested in two vast regions of Siberia. The first concerns the territory of Siberia to the north-west including the rivers Dvina and Kotuj, including the peninsula of Tayma. In this region the people involved in the use of the fungus belongs to the Ural language family, and they are: Khanty (Ostiaki), Mansi (Vogul), Forest Nenets, Selkup (Samoidei group), Nganasan, Ket (Yenisei Ostiaki of) . According to recent observations of Saar (1991), with these people today use the fungus became extinct.

The second region covers the eastern part of Siberia from the Kolyma River, including the peninsula of Kamchatka and the people involved are: Chukchi, Koriaki, Itelmen, Eskimos, Chuvanian (one of the tribes Yukagir), Yukagir, Even Russians who settled for centuries and along the Kolyma River.

The use of the fungus has been reported by ethnographers of the nineteenth century, even among the Lapps of Inari in northern Scandinavia (Wasson, 1968) and at the northern Komi living in the Urals (Dunn, 1973).

Anthropologists of the Russian post-revolutionary period reported that, with the advent of Soviet power, the Siberian populations stopped their old practice of fly-agaric ingestion dell'agarico, "Socialist soon reaching the stage of social development" (in rip. Wasson, 1968: 151). Following the political change in post-Soviet 1990s, anthropologists, more free from censorship, they returned to report the use of the fungus in these populations, showing that this use was in fact never been stopped (see Saar, 1991) .

Depending on the populations of Fly agaric mushroom was and is used collectively for ceremonies and parties, or used by shamans to promote healing trance during practices or to contact the spirits of the dead, in divination and the interpretation of dreams. And 'as fortifying used during long journeys and hunting. And 'highly probable that originally was exclusively use shamanic and subsequently weakening the institution of shamanic power and the use of the fungus has spread to other members of the tribal society.

During the fly-agaric dall'agarico induced visions they occur in siberian investigator of anthropomorphic figures without arms and legs, and regarded the spirits of the fungus called "man-love" or "dummies", which communicate with the investigator and the lead for hand in the afterlife journey. These "men-like" to play an important role in the interpretation of the experience with the fungus, are depicted in prehistoric petroglyphs of the ancient Siberian peoples and are a recurring theme in mythology and stories of Yakuti, Chukchee and other tribes present.

The Siberian populations have found that the urine of those who have eaten the Fly agaric mushroom is also equipped with psychoactive properties and are known for the bizarre habit of drinking his own urine or that of other individuals to prolong the effects of the fungus.
It is very likely that these people have discovered the psychoactive properties of the urine of those who have eaten the same mushroom fungus and observing the behavior of the reindeer, which are both tasty and intentionally become drunk with the Fly agaric mushroom, which the urine of other reindeer that have eaten.

This article from Wired has produced a more condensed article (that follows)including a fantastic quote about Illuminatus Trilogy! by Shea and Wilson, linking the History of hacker culture directly to the novels, and so further back, deeper into the sub-history of dada, surrealism, satire. I would argue this reaches right back to the 1580's and Giordano Bruno's 'pantheism', and can be tracked by simply following the route Robert Anton Wilson defined for us: Bruno, Giambattista Vico, Friederich Nietzsche, Ernest Fenollosa, William Butler Yeates, Ezra Pound, James Joyce, Alfred Korzybski, Buckminster Fuller, Claude Shannon, Norbert Weiner, Marshal McLuhan, and Orson Welles.

Understanding Anonymous: The Culture Of Lulz

We've written a number of times about the not-really-a-group Anonymous, and just how little those who position themselves "against" Anonyomous understand what it is they're fighting against. But even for those who are "of internet culture," explaining just what Anonymous really is certainly can be difficult. Either you live it and you get it, or you don't. That doesn't mean that everyone who "gets" Anonymous agrees with Anonymous. Hell, even Anonymous doesn't agree with Anonymous much of the time -- which is part of the point. But for those who are used to arguing against a group or those with an established position, the entire concept of Anonymous is completely alien.

Quinn Norton is putting together what looks to be a brilliant exploration of Anonymous and related efforts. The initial piece is the best I've seen to date in encapsulating what Anonymous is. The key point? It’s a culture. And, it's a culture with a long heritage of similar efforts that many people didn't get at the time, but there's definitely a (rather non-linear, of course) relationship:

The birthplace of Anonymous is a website called 4chan founded in 2003, that developed an “anything goes” random section known as the /b/ board. 4chan itself comes from a Japanese-language predecessor called 2chan, founded in 2001. Before that, the lulz and hacker pranking was alive and well in old-school IRC chat rooms, EFnet, and the 1990s hacker scene.

But if you’re going back that far, add as influences Mondo 2000, and publications like RE/Search, and a billion shitty zines that were dead by 1996. But those all came from something, too.

Hacker culture, and almost all of computer culture back in the day is shot through with the Discordian edge of 1960/1970s counter-culture and Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea’s Illuminatus. So from there it’s the yippies, Andy Kaufmann, and the Situationists we need to first comprehend. Or do we head back to early 20th century absurdists of Dada? Or maybe we venture all the way to that olde booke of epic trolling lulze, Tristram Shandy?

We’re all the way to 1759 now.

Perhaps this means the 1960s Discordians are right, and there’s a Ha Ha Only Serious giggle that is cosmic in nature. That there is a part of reality, a force of physics, that is actually a Fundamental Sense of Humor. But the gravity we deal with can only be explained to an even larger amount of Dark Humor, woven into the fabric of the universe.

Of course, those who don't get Anonymous still won't get Anonymous after this article. In fact, they're likely to be more confused, or more sure than ever that it's "just a bunch of bratty kids" or something along those lines. And thinking that works exactly to Anonymous' favor, which is part of the joke, in which everyone is the punchline.

INTRODUCTION

Hi I finally got around to posting this, it's been hanging around for a while. I hope you'll forgive my errors, any feedback will be well received.

So friends...which events seem important to you? Which would you choose to define any given period of time? How do you make sense of them, what conditions nurtured them, which human interventions and which natural disasters led to the events you pick?

If we are to make sense and meaning of history, and sanity--a risky endeavour in these times of global Internet but one which any poet worth the name might pursue--then a 'poem including history' of the last decade seems a good place to start to me. (after writing this introduction I learned that Mark Zukenburg and facebook plan to release a ‘timeline' application that allows for a similar chronological study of events. However History also moves in cycles, and non-chronological spirals, it is of my opinion.

The launch of Wikipedia in February of 2001 has impacted this writing a great deal due to the simple list of some events deemed worthy of inclusion by the Wikipedia commons group, that are made available for all to see and make sense of at your own risk. The risk seems to me to be somewhat reduced when attention is paid to the subjective nature of perception, and to methods such as ‘operational language used by some-but-not-all scientists and ‘E-prime’ and its variants, used by some-but-not-all linguists.

When put Into chronological order it becomes increasingly difficult for me to avoid drawing conclusions based on the ordering, one thing leads to another, or so it seems to a linear oriented mind set. The question remains: which ‘events’ should become pivotal ones and which shall be relegated to the footnotes or relegated all together? How did the author or protagonist come to choose such events based on which values and principle, what ordering system, what right knowledge? How many are justified by later events and how many need revision, considering, let’s say; the Wikileaks exposures of the period 2007-2010, or the News Corp. phone hacking racket?

Maybe you'll have a crack at this process, outside of facebook, of putting the last ten years (or any period of time) into textual form. Music, painting, dance, sculpture, textiles and other art based activities also help communicate this information.

In mixing private events with those events deemed as Historical in the broader sense, I hope to take the edge off of history a little bit, I mean to say balance what we perceive as ‘historical’ with our personal infinite flux of perception—at the moment these events are perceived to be taking place. Unless you happen to be fortunate and in the physical location of such an ‘historical event’ then rather you may not view it as ‘historical’ at all, by your own standards, yet another fleeting moment on planet earth.

The questions: where were you, what were you doing and why were you doing it?, introduces ‘subjective context’ into the thinking process encircling the question of History. I repeat, I have taken great liberty through a poetic licence to inject my own value system upon the last ten years. Forgive my ego-centric perception and decadence, I will be editing and updating this work towards 2012, keep in touch friends, love--steve.

Hi,

The riots in the UK earlier this month (aug. 6-10, 2011) have provoked a number of textual reactions and experiments from me that I present here in a mish-mash-up style. Typically I have the beginnings of lots of different ideas, poems, screenplays, on-going research and rants. I might need some help editing some of this stuff.

'Mirror in De Buurvrouw' by CHU

My good friend CHU came to Amsterdam and decorated the wall of a local bar very close to Dam square in the center, called De Buurvrouw. The decorations work on many levels and from many different perspectives, not least the name 'Mirror in De Buurvrouw' being a riff on the lyric and title of the Ska revival tune by The Beat (Mirror in the Bathroom).

Seaflow and me against the LFAS navy

During my time living in America I frequented a number of meetings with the 'marine mamal protection agency' called seaflow based in Marine county, California. I enjoyed listening to the presentations, in particular the bioacoustician 'Michael stocker' who touched on some areas of biology and science first bought to my attention by Dr. John Lilly M.D.

As both a swimmer and a musician I have always found a fascination with Dolphin and whale songs for many reasons, and have always felt in agreement with the well known cliche' 'save the whales' and furthermore often wondered why 'saving whales' came to be used as a term used in conjunction with new agers and hippies who simply cared for the natural environment and its inhabitants, as well as having compassipon for human beings. 'Tree huggers' is another case in point here.

My thoughts on 'saving the whales' that are in line with some of those echoed at 'seaflow' correspond with the worlds 'sea based' military industrial complex, or the weapons, sonor and other acoustic technologies interfearing with the biological ecosystem and individual physiological systems, I mean to say that the Navy and/or oil and gas explorers are often responsible for cases of beached whales and dolphins around the world.

I agree, in the spirit of good science and research that there are many other factors relating to cases of beached whales and dolphins, from 'social' theories of a kind of 'suicide' among these creatures to electro-magnetic anomalies that confuse their sonor, and I am happy that research is going on into these areas, Great Britain has an entire organization following cases of stranded marine life around the UK coastline, but the threat from 'low frequency active sonor' seems to have been deemed a low priority for them, who knows? maybe they already have a campaign to inform the public about the dangers from ocean noise in general and the fact that the Navy are often the humans to blame for some of the beachings and cases of stranded marine life.

Another strange thing happened just now when I went looking for seaflow's web site, its gone, but I discovered another company that uses the name seaflow, ironically its actually an underwater turbine system that claims to be a viable renewable energy source by its makers.

I'll write up some more on this subject after reading a liitle more into it, in the meantime the message is 'write to representatives about 'low frequency active sonor' and other ocean pollution that directly harms whales, dolphins and lots of other sea life too. Thanks, steve-fly

b. There were experiments but with the intention of purely medical and research based experiments, to improve our collective understanding of the unconscious and help humanity and the individual better their communication, or some such 'positive' goal.
c. The experiments were only conducted using Mescaline and/or other psychoactive drugs, and/or methods such as Electro-shock so no LSD was used.
d. The secret services were not involved with the naive search for a 'Truth serum' and have had no interest in drugging people without their knowledge and observing them for the purposes of 'intelligence gathering' in the tradition of the more well known 'Nazi Doctors' and their in-human experiments.
e. I am an LSD casualty myself, and due to encounters with this marvelous medicine have developed an entire historical hallucination based upon a fictional Universe where nobody, not a soul, other than 'I' inhabit? None of these 'things' I write of are real. I invented them in a drug induced 'psychic' break with reality, in the singular.

BALANCING THE EQUATIONS WITH TRIADS.

I view a part of my task in setting up a table of ttott correspondences as providing examples of how the tables can be used to create various effects. Both as study guides into historical, biographical work and as imagination guides into the tale of the tribe, and the new translations.

The triangular structure enables opposing characteristics of mildness and severity a point of resolution and of synthesis, a middle path that may recycle the energies back and around and in so doing balance the opposing forces. The general idea of dividing 30 characters into 10 sets of triangulated groups of three characters, for example, may provide a working model for a rough structure, as would 15 sets of waltzing duo's of opposing forces or a 'coincidance of contraries' as Joyce put it in Finnegans Wake.

GEODESICS

I have developed number systems for working out the new maps, due to the possibility of multi-dimensional models at a latter stage of the project, whereby objects containing various symbols and images can be folded and enfolded. I have already experimented with a TTOTT Dodecahedron of 20 sides and 12 vertices, and in principle, the numbers 30, 60, 90,120 and 150 all render symmetrical objects upon which information may be presented, here I pay tribute to Buckminster Fuller, and Giordano Bruno.

THE TALLY OF THE TRIBE.

The set of 5 wheels I have designed each have 30 'nodes' on their belt of concentric rings. I made them by choosing 5 major categories: Tailors, Theolo, Texts, Teachings, Totems (Human Beings, Spirits, Texts, Principles, Objects).

I have chose to recycle 'T' words and keep a running TTOTT structure to each heading and category I make. The TTOTT logo features four 'T's tilted to create a four way symmetry (+) with a circle placed central. If you pretend to say the word 'T' you'll notice your tongue gets right up on your teeth, and if you make a repeated 'T' sound you may notice that you sound a little like a Hi-Hat cymbal, and, that you can repeat the letter 'T' faster and with more control than possibly any other letter in the English Alphabet? This will have some correspondence to the spoken word and spoken drum components to the class, but also keep the original TTOTT (the tale of the tribe) intact.

Giordano Bruno used the number 30 often when constructing his wheels and wheels within wheels. Although unlike Bruno, my belts are so far only attenuated to the TTOTT matter, and simply borrow the use of the number 30 and the idea of putting lists of things on concentric rings, 5 in total, producing 150 nodes, or images in Bruno's model, that I should add seems incredibly more complex and refined than my wheels. Reading Bruno recently led me to revisit the idea of having 30 things on revolving tables, something I used to anchor some themes in an early edition of my book: World Piss: 30 seals and the spore of the words.

All the characters that follow Bruno chronologically can appear on the wheels that he inspired, together with Giambattista Vico, (another philosopher of the revolutionary hermetic renaissance tradition), the tribal characters can ride the wheel, the turning tables of correspondences, and so unify in that movement, that ever-changing sensibility and decentralized and rotational wisdom. A revolutionary force.

CONNECTING CYCLES AND CIRCUITS

The tale of the tribe must be a connected network, otherwise it is useless. A new team of nodal points, shared swarms that link together. The goal of a hologramic network, a poem, novel, screenplay, album, performing overlapping functions, working together.

The triple spiral symbolizes the rotational and spiral nature of the connected works of Dr. Robert Anton Wilson, the triad or delta that symbolizes femininity and the triple goddess. Vico and Joyce and Nietzsche feed off the spiraling principles of recorsi. Giordano Bruno and his "Memory Wheels" plus Giambattista Vico and his "Cycles of Ages", Frederich Nietzsche and the "Eternal Return", Ernest Fenollosa and the omni-directional radiance of "Chinese Symbolism", William Butler Yeats and his dynamic "Gyres" and "Unity of Being" and 'Symbolism', Ezra Pound and his "Revolutionary Calendar" and 'Ideogramic method of juxtaposition', James Joyce and his spiral powered "coincidance of contraries & resolution of opposites", Buckminster Fuller and the moving "Synergistic" principles. Meanwhile Alfred Korzybski and his "General Semantics", Marshall McLuhan and his "Global Village Tribes", Orson Welles and his "Neurological Cinematic Relativity", Claude Shannon and "Information Theory" and other recurring geniuses and their additional contributions to humanity intersect with connecting threads represented by Dr. Wilson. In my opionion at their most potent when writing on Joyce: the mother-load of compressed hermetic wisdom.

THE TURNING OF THE TRIBE

The new maps and seals I present are a work in progress and as far as I know a unique way of processing the information, and potentially a relatively simple and sharable method for others to conduct similar research.

I would like to present a kind of Top Trumps challenge to create an equally revolutionary belt of innovative thinkers, or simply use any combination of belts on any grouping of things that you may wish, make it new! Bio-seasonal, calendrical, astrological and cosmological belts for example, may add many useful functions, the possibilities are literally endless with this, but I have chose to stack and pack a krewe that I believe represent the tale of the tribe as defined by Dr. Wilson, quite a bunch', to perhaps provide a new platform for collaborative investigations, and new interpretations. Nodes or units of distilled cultural inheritance.

Fly Agaric 23 announces online RAW course

Steve "Fly Agaric" 23 has announced a new online course, "email to the tribe," which will run from Sept. 20 through Nov. 5 and will feature weekly doses of multimedia; participants are asked to donate what they can.

The tale of the tribe approximates a tale of humanity, or 'tales', a new global epic that must capture illuminating details from humanity and juxtapose them in a special way using special language (Hologrammic prose, the Hermetic style, Ideogrammic method, Joyce's 'epiphany' etc.) Dr.Robert Anton Wilson crafted his tale of the tribe to suit, among other definitions; the architects of post-modem' cyber-culture, reaching back to the renaissance and pulling up-tense to our decentralized--hyper connected--future present.

Our program this week emanates from Café The Zen in Amsterdam where we’ve been based all week with the New Orleans action painter called Frenchy and 101 Runners pianist Tom Worrell plus guitarist Vincent Pino (from Venezuela), drummer Steve Fly (UK) and bassist-engineer Leslie Lopez (Puerto Rico)—the International Blues Scholars. We’re listening to music we made here at Studio Zen on Monday night (16) and at the 420 Café on Wednesday (18), where we were joined by Chris Jones (New Orleans) on bongos during his brief visit to Amsterdam, and we’ve got a few records to add by Alberta Adams & the Planet D Nonet, Kermit Ruffins, Lenny Bruce on airplane glue, and Brother Jack McDuff. GULF OIL SPILL POEM from October 2009

When I first heard about the Oil rig explosion on 4/20 (2010) I quickly thought about my writing dedicated to the SUPER MAJOR's of the OIL GAME, and in particular BP, that I turned to BRITISH PETROILMEN.

I consider some lines in the poem pretty spot on considering what happened since writing and posting it. Bringing the worlds at-tension to the SUPER MAJORS, fossil fuels, oil, war and greedy irresponsible international corporate terrorism.

I hope to have balanced the bad oil boys and their igonorance with some beauty and intelligence of our Mermaid's, the sea shells and ocean life of clean goodness, love, steve fly.

Crude awakening to the spill-age. A Collosal squid princess riding old Jakobsschelp to help a Hutch load of old scallops rise out the Seafloor Blues. Deep sea things speak! Lo! Scallops of the ocean down by the great rising Chiefs. Take Big Periwinkle into your earshell. Smell the sign, touch the symbol, has it got ridges? Dreams cast to sea to see in a Venus shell in a mother of pearl breast. Dead Plankton in the paint painted on Saints of the swamp. And the city sewers flow. Heed the clam of commerce and the cockle-shock shimmy. A shell of transfusion, what sea-shell sign symbol confusion. Emerging on a horse covered in Scallops? Yes, Prince Periwinkle gallops-up stream like Salmon. Skullops for one shelling a dollop. Sea wave-wind Mussels flex into fossils. Oh, more yet, invisible smell of oilamp from the limpet. The Penis of Mr. Big Periwinkle is swelling, a telling sign of the times. Lets Oil the Oystery of Oil, and stir with a staff, lets foil Big sharks, get shocked, struck coil! Son’s of Thunder Juice, Snel, quick up to defend the word. A sea slug with untold feet, runs with you. Hoily Tools of the Big Petrol scoop and scope scheme, wallops the marine scene with unclean oil sheen. Another spellage. Finnegans Wake vs. The Volcano

I often search the wake for terms and words of interest to me, on a whim. Here I simply quote to instance of the word VOLCANO in the wake. I suspect Joyce surrounded these words with others of a similar nature, or with a strong affinity with one another; a node/cluster of Volcanic fall out. VOLCANO seems another description of the wake, a literary Volcano of languages, hot out the mamalujo womb of the Earth itself, forged in the unspeakable furnace and tossed of out a mountain top resulting in a upward fountain of European chaos and mayhem. Constructivist Synchronicity?

I attribute most of my early independent consciousness research to Dr. Robert Anton Wilson and his book 'Cosmic Trigger' in particular; combined with my will to contact some of the entities from that book, and share my findings with friends, family and local community. What happened changed my life forever, and I trace it all back to Jung's 'Liverpool' dream.

During the late 1990's most of my friends were without Internet access and only small bands of 'turned on artists, musicians and trippers' could verify the kinds of surrealist signals I detected in Bob's writing, while I walked the labyrinth of altered estates in an altering faultering social state, in and around the Black Country area of England.

Throughout the late 1990's I recorded dreams in diaries that I kept by my bedside and have experienced synchronicities directly related to these dreams in my waking life, pretty consistently over roughly 14 years now.

Around 1999 I listed the names of a personal dream team that I wanted to bring together into a project, like fantasy league football, but somehow with living characters, and not a usual list but some of those from Bob's books who were still very much alive and active.

The eclipse of August 11th 1999 at 11:11 am. GMT, and the 9/9/99 date sparked further synchronistic events in my life that were sufficient proof to me, at that time, that whatever it was I was doing it was working, I felt guided by somewhat wild spirits into the new electronic world. My wild dreams were expressed as DJ mixes I made during this period.

Fuelled by Bob's optimistic writing and some good acid, I purchasing a book titled "Secret Chamber' by Robert Bauval on the day it was published in the UK and I set my sights on alerting the world to a probable Illuminati coup' on the Millennium point, a congress of capitalists interested in Egyptology, Freemasonry, Skull And Bones, CFR, IMF, UFO's, Bilderburger Group, CIA, MJ-12 and the usual list of suspects of the new Millenicon.

Secret Chamber went on to the best seller list in the new age conspiracy book-market and is the book that led me into the 'Stargate Conspiracy' by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince, a book, in turn that I personally handed to Dr. Wilson at the Palm Springs Prophets Conference where he read some of it, even adding some critical commentary on one occasion in my presence when asked by friends "what are you reading?"

Introduction to a dream:

The fly Agaric fungus is a species of interest to me for several reasons that have impinged on my nervous system and inspired me to adopt the nick-name ‘fly agaric 23’ as a creative avatar; a supra-self mythman, around 1996.

Evidence that I feel strongly that the ‘fly agaric’ or 'Amanita Muscaria' holds special significance, Stephen Pratt' fused with ‘fly agaric’ and its positive attributes as I perceive them: ‘fly agaric’: chemical, mythological, poetic, biological and neuro-linguistic.

I picked the name without having read much of the 'fly agaric' literature so I hope not imply I have been plotting this adventure in dualisms from the start. My hope is to expose the 'meaningful coincidences' by shedding light on the events from over the last 13 years or so and connecting some looping tails that include British politics, global capitalsim and the war on some terrorists and some people who use some drugs.

Steven James Pratt vs. Fly Agaric 23 is my exegesis on these positive attributes and the results of my thirteen year research as a drummer, DJ and writer living in the US, the UK and the Netherlands.

The fictional DJ character 'Plush' from my experimental Novel 'OUR HISTORYS BACK' is a third extension of both 'Steven James Pratt and 'Fly Agaric 23', combining attributes to produce a new synthesis.

Fly by Name Game by nature?€
I chose a word used to denote a particular species of fungus that is the subject of an impressive body of scientific research, I also discovered 'Amanita Muscaria' has been the subject of secret Military experiments and death cults that appealed to me, during my first encounters with psychedelic drugs, jazz and beat poetry.

I added the 23’ to the fly agaric for cabalistic reason when I discovered that my birth date 15/04/76 adds up to twenty three when taken as single digits as does the year 1976, a stunning discovery to me at that time around 1996.

I was pulled into the ’23 Enigma’ forever. And Amanita Muscaria is the 24th entry to the index at the back of Cosmic Trigger! Amanita Muscaria comes up five times when searched in the 'Illuminatus Trilogy! by Shea and Wilson.

RAW & Fly Amanitanatus:
Around 1996 I had not read any of the following scholars listed in the context of ‘Fly Agaric Studies’. I formulated the hypothesis that the fly agaric mushroom might be a thorn in the side of monotheistic religion and the monsters who rage, war on humanity and sharing culture, and wage a war on some people who use some drugs around the world. I was in search of the sacred
path to nobiolent resistance. RAW had the key, the map and the Ravioli cannon.

Amanita is dubbed by Wilson (on page 147 of Cosmic Trigger) “ the most widely used sacred drug in the Old World” a biological psychoactive drug entity that I figured, in my milly mindedness' fitted perfectly with my psychedelic musical ambitions, ‘fly agaric 23’ soon manifest on dj event flyers, mix-tapes, posters and even albums such as the 'Big Dada records' 1999 release: Equalibrium, by New Flesh For Old, on a track titled 'Quantum Mechanix.' and a limited edition 10" release called 'Superstring Theory' decorated by the mighty CHU himself.

Can Philosophy phlosofly?
During the decade of the naughties (00-10) I have read roughly 70% of the above material, plus other material, neuro-chemical, alchemical, mythological, botanical, paranormal, etymological, everything and anything I could find, some of which texts turned-up for me in the strangest of places. Most titles have been more widely available recently due to the sharing power of Internet.

LPS KEYS TOO by STEVEFLY

Fly hope to unify the unique symbiotic and etymological cross-roads, observable in nature, in ancient literature, fairy lore, medical journals, species taxonomy records, etc., of the 'Amanita Muscaria' (the red and white spotted fly agaric), flies' (drosophilia melanogaster), toads and mushroom munching human Apes. This network of connectivity between different species spills out from the worlds of scientific taxonomy into the dark recesses of alchemy, magick, shamanism. MING.

Flies are attracted to the Amanita mushroom's sweet n' sour scent, drink sap and fall drunk, providing an easy meal for any hungry toad that may have picked up this evolutionary knowledge over the past few hundred thousand years.

Remarkably this relationship has manifested in our common phrase “Toadstool”. The Colorado Bufo’ toad (Bufo Alvarius) and some other species of Toad actually carry a highly psychoactive substance on their backs. Why have humans evolved receptors to these natural highs? Some of these questions are addressed in my reworking of the W.B Yeats play: At The Hawks Well.

Some mushrooms and some toads transport psychedelic drugs. Alcohol, coffee, tobacco, sugar, marijuana are drugs to enable access to certain altered state's of consciousness, and although the question of defining an un-altered state of consciousness remains a tricky one for me, I propose that those plants and processes' that stimulate alterations in human consciousness are of importance for scientific medicine, psychology, and philosophy. Our brains have evolved intricate chemical locks especially shaped for the psychoactive drugs, we have been hardwired to get high, it seems. This neurological fact might provide good feedback to defining the wrong headedness associated with the failed, and failing, 'prohibition policy' towards some drugs, but interestingly 'Amanita Muscaria' the fly agaric; is not a scheduled drug in most countries rather its simply labelled Poisonous: DO NOT EAT.

Most human deaths that occur from eating Mushrooms are from eating Amanita's without a clear understanding of dosage. Low doses are more likely to give a medicinal effect, medium doses a aphrodisiac-like effect and high doses Visionary. But these doses vary depending on what species, what geographical location and all the personal details of the individual. Many of the authors mentioned have extensive knowledge of the pharamacology and dosage and set and settings best suited to Amanita experiences. Arms Durber Trilogy by STEVEFLY

Seeking the High Priest of Synchronicity to find the King of coincidence.
After a house fire and many marvellous dreams recalled around the turn of the Millennium, I decided to go seek Dr. Wilson in the USA, as he seemed to me to have the best looking blueprint for culutral revolution and posed the best questions to authority I had ever heard.

Whatever he put his gaze to seemed to dissolve into a range of new models and possibilities of interpretation, always teaming exit points and safe houses, guides and jokes, well sourced references and links to those continuing the work today, covering the bases of modern thought in a comprehensive web of scientific philosophy. RAW created an internet before internet.

Moving the mind in many directions at once, Bob seemed to share all, and demonstrate great revolutionary linguistic agility we could all learn from.

I was so enthralled by the power of RAW’s optimistic brain food that I became so high and optimistic that I figured due to the lack of Robert Anton Wilson media in my immediate environment, I should make a journey to go and make some and bring it on home.

AMSTERDAM FREEDOM WITH LOVE by STEVEFLY

I planned to go to the Prophets Conference in Sante Fe, New Mexico and record Bob live with my mini-disc recorder, and then race home to use the recordings in new songs, produced to spread RAW wisdom across the dance floor and the airwaves wherever possible. But to use the new electronic music as a carrier for the RAW wisdom wave.

Ste Millennium tension:
It was April 2000 A.D, the Millennium was our oyster, an emergent generation of tech-wizards, DJ’s, street writers, ravers, trippers and smokers were rising up against the old order of authoritarian rule, the government fraudsters, militarists and corporate bullies.

After the powerfully inspiring images of the 1999 Seattle protests together with the equally inspired local ‘reclaim the streets’ protest in Birmingham I was convinced something wonderful was happening, the shitstem' could not hold much longer' I thought, here now new yoof' are having bare fun in the face of authority. High happy and unwilling to cooperate with the New World Order of Tony Blair and New Labour.

For me the great dream of an alternative drug policy to prohibition and a responsible decriminalization method, at the least concerning Marijuana seemed to be just around the corner in 1999. The IRA had stopped their bombing campaign, and the war in Bosnia cleared up pretty fast, and only cost about 40 Billion and countless lives and millions of displaced peoples. Consciousness became the great frontier once more and art and culture made giant leaps and bounds in a matter of months, 1996-2000, telecommunications changed everything for us kids, the global village was waking up at the Millennium. But I thought Marshall McLuhan was a detroit Techno DJ at that point.

New and encouraging scientific study’s were being published around the world, and Millions joined in efforts directed at letting their governments know that in the case of Marijuana, millions of smoke it often and you cannot stop us all or jail us all.

And, 'why not save a lot of money, time, effort, and human humiliation and change the damn failed prohibition model, bring in the new model based on the new research and latest studies from around the world, the pooled resources of the best minds and research.

Why not adopt a responsible global drug policy that puts human lives and harm-reduction at the top of its priority list, so that we can define humanity more clearly. Most Cannabis users and psychedelic users I have met have a similar humanitarian streak in them and their community that can be distinguished from the Alchohol and Cocaine users, who from my experience often exhibit the intolarence. But I am biased here, after all.

In my naive optimism I thought that simply communicating the great scientific research from the likes of Robert Anton Wilson, Tim' Leary, Mckenna, Lilly and others would be sufficient to influence policy, or at least help them formulate good questions and have some good debate. Unbridled optimism was the order of the day' thought fly agaric.

The conference in Santa Fe turned up a number of meaningful coincidences' and remarkable meetings that set me on the trajectory to spending almost five years in the United States, meeting and studying with RAW and basically, living out an American dream full of synchronicity and remarkable meetings that I suspect will lead many to question my claim that it was an 'unplanned trip' for the most part.

The first major coincidence I was confronted with in Santa Fe was my meeting of two friends, who shared my interest in John Lilly and Robert Anton Wilson, and who both shared my birthday: April 15th!

Oily Thursday at Finnegans Wake by STEVEFLY

I mention that they were John Lilly fans because they had a copy of the rare and out of print “Programming and Metaprogramming the Human Bio-computer", little did I know that only two weeks later I would be meeting with Dr. Lilly face to face and working as a volunteer at a week-long symposium held in his honour called “Gilding The Lilly”. To my astonishment Jack Sarfatti, Saul Paul Sirag, and some others scientists I was familiar with from RAW's work were speaking at this event.

The second meaningful coincidence that struck me on my birthday in Santa Fe, was realized when the sad announcement was made that Robert was ill and could not make it to the event. It was at this moment, in a flash, (while I was receiving a round of sympathetic applause from six-hundred or so new age witches and war-locks for travelling so far all the way from Birmingham to the conference) I recalled a dream I had had roughly 6 months previously in which I was sitting in my ex-college mobile classroom in Stourbridge awaiting RAW, we waited and waited for him to arrive but he did not show up.

I have the dream in my notebooks that will soon be available along with this text, I was not so innocently bumping into...I was seeking it, looking for adventure and experimenting with visualizations of new connections between things.

This positive worldview certainly churned up some interesting results in my realm-time experienced existential reality, characters from 'Cosmic Trigger' were showing up in the flesh, and the author himself was right around the corner.

Within 2 months of living in Berkeley California I was plugged into a network of characters that already seemed impossible to dream up a Philip K. Dick plot, made possible by the wonderful close friends of mine who temporarily adopted me and enabled me to stay in the bay area.

I had shared space in S.F with: Dennis Mckenna, Mark Pesce, Erik Davis, Bruce Sterling, Michio Kaku, Ralph Abraham, Edgar Mitchell, RAW and many more of that cutting edge techno-shamanistic tribe.

Most of these remarkable meetings were made possible by my loose affiliation with the audio-archivist organization called soundphotosynthesis, and, as a volunteer I was fortunate to meet a colorful array of scientists, artists, musicians and kind friends at the events I worked at. I worked on editing audio/video material from the Sound Photo Archive shortly after I returned to San Francisco in December 2000.

Maybe I was naive to be hanging around with a bohemian group of scientists and intellectuals flaunting my music, asking shallow questions hacked out of something I read, but, I made incredible friends and had many priceless adventures through this synchro 'net-mesh' on the edge of a paradigm shift lifted straight out from a page of Cosmic Trigger IV.

The journeyman returned to the UK in July 2000 with a hell of a tale to tell. With a heedfull' of new things.

One drizzly day I got a request from the organizers of the Prophets Conference asking me if I would like to join RAW at the up-coming con in Palm Springs due to the fact that Bob now required a care-giver, due to him being confined to a wheel chair most of the time.

I remember a huge smile striking my face. Somehow in the relatively short period of approx. 5 years since encountering his work I had the rare chance to meet with someone I regarded as the smartest guy on the planet and the great hope for all-humanity in 2000 A.D. The global village was awakening and RAW was the voice of a Universal synthesis, I thought.

When my air ticket to Chicago arrived in the mail I was dazzled to read: flight number 'AA23' and promptly flashed it to Richard Metzger, Brian Jones and Bob in his hotel room on the evening we got high together in Palm Srings.

Bright Knife-Blade-Voice
Without any planned accomadation in Palm Springs I simply walked out the airport with my bags, and explored the strange looking city. Nothing like San Francisco.

After shopping at a small store for bread and cream cheese I found myself half a mile from the store walking up a long Palm Springs boulevard to discover I did not have a knife or tool to slice bread or spread cream cheese. Moments after I realized this fact, walking up a long concrete path flanked by neat spiky green grass, something caught the corner of my right eye, glistening in the sunlight, I looked and to my astonishment spotted a stainless steel knife sticking out from the grassy knowl.

Hesitating I finally plucked the knife from the grass, wiped it clean on my jeans and carried on walking while enjoying my cream-cheese roll in some style. I hereby swear this tale is true, and it has me baffled to this day.

Super-String Theory: Hidden Chamber Arkestra
I met Surinder Sandhue on a council led music class for the unemployed held in Dudley around 1997. After more than 2 years of collaboration outside of the class I manufactured 200 ten inch vinyl records featuring 3 tracks: SUPERSTRING THEORY movement one', and 'movement two' and 'Ganga Puja'.

GANGA PUJA: FIBONACCII PROJECT (SECRET CHAMBER ARKESTRA) by STEVEFLY

Terence Mckenna, Robert Anton Wilson, Timothy Leary, Hakim Bey, Ken Kessey and William S. Burroughs were the authors I was tripping with in the late 1990's, plus Michio Kaku whose 1994 book "Hyperspace" influenced me to take on 'super-string theory' as a new piece of additional data in my theory of 'synchronicity'.

In the context of the chapter from Cosmic Trigger titled: ERP and BELL's Theorem, I, in my tiny mind, thought I might help give creedence to RAW's multi-world model's and methodological multi-verse theory, communicated in various stylistic textual methodologies, or books you might say. You can see the photographs included in this book, of the SUPERSTRING THEORY vinyl disks that I created to honour this strong intuition.

Jumping forward a few years, I was sitting at a lecture held in San Francisco (actually, due to RAW not showing in Santa Fe' at the Prophets Conference 14-16 April 2000 A.D., I decided to take the grey-dog up to San Francisco where some kind folks I met had invited me to stay with them there, more adventurous than simply catching my flight home) where Saul Paul Sirag was presenting information based upon mathematician G. Spencer Brown and the "Laws Of Form". I spoke with Saul briefly, and with Jack Sarfatti who I had had some previous contact through email, and who I was somewhat familiar with from reading Quantum Psychology, The Illuminati Papers and Cosmic Trigger.

Late May 2000 A.D, I met an incredible Jazz bass player at yet another conference called "PLANETWORKERS", who synchronistically was playing a show that week with a Berkeley based pianist called Jack Perla, Jack had recently collaborated with my musical buddy from Wolverhampton Surinder, along with another Berkeley based saxophone and clarinet player called George Brooks. I was aware of these characters too, from hanging out in Surinder's studio (98-2000) and felt a strange loop kick in while chatting with Kai.

Due to this notable synchronicity, I got the crazy notion to produce a collaborative project between Jack Perla the pianist and Jack Sarfatti the post-quantum physicist. What might have been something I thought up using my turntables and minidisc recorder rig six months ago had manifested itself as a strong physical collaborative possibility in existensial spacetime. Wow.

I arranged a meeting between the three of us at a Cafe' in Northbeach and It turned out not to have lead to any collaborative musical recordings between us, but an interview at Jack's apartment with Saul Paul Sirag himself, that I have only recently transcribed and hyperlinked, here. Maybe I will remix some of Jack Perla's Piano and Jack Sarfatti's post-quantum lecture material together someday?

The Net
So I seemed to have physically entered Doctor John Lilly's "Network", as described by RAW in Cosmic Trigger, and what's remarkable is that I was somewhat aware of this network, in as much as I was aware that John Lilly appears throughout the book that had pulled me into this synchro-mesh. Now, I thought, I have some evidence and some proof. I can bring back the knowledge gained from some of the architect's of that book and begin to show and share some of the scientific principles contained within.

I was very fortunate to be playing music with a variety of Bay Area musicians, among them a recently formed jam band project called Garaj Mahal, who kindly shared their stage, recordings and music with me throughout the rest of my American journey up to October 31st 2005.

METAMONDO SHADOW MASH-UP by STEVEFLY

This combination of music and science, and open psychedelic studies was a huge influence on me and helped me realize a better society, generally, where the Police were pretty tolerant of Marijuana smoking, and art and artists were out on the streets and in the parks, out among the community. I could sense the torsion field carved by the 1960's cultural explosion.

The local business model and economy were seemingly centered around creative industries, although unbeknownst to me I was in San Francisco on the cusp of the dot com crash. But to me the telecommunication infrastructure was 20 years ahead of what I knew growing up in the black country and the crooked intolerant' Dudley council.

Bob Marley and the Wailer's
After being hired as DJ for a week at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, I decided to stay on in NOLA, being that I had finally met back up with my two friends from Sante Fe' 3 years later, who I shared my birthday with.

I was in full support and total Ecstasy of Ben's idea to take a road trip in his SUV all the way to Santa Cruz where Bob was guest of honor at the premier of the documentary movie MAYBELOGIC: THE LIVES AND IDEAS OF ROBERT ANTON WILSON. With associate producer credits generously given to 'fly agaric 23'.

The movie was to open on the 23rd of July, 2003, and we had to go. Besides finding a hot stash of RAW titles on the road and tripping balls in the Moab desert, Las Vegas Casino's and beyond, one memorable and remarkable synchronistic intersection point stands out for me.

While on the road with Ben we had a stash of CD's and were listening to the radio infrequently, but on one occasion we did listen to the radio while it played a Bob Marley and The Wailers song, we listened to it because we had just been playing a Bob Marley Album on CD and we had just reached the west most tip of San Francisco, literally on the beach after travelling for eight days from way down in Louisiana.

When the classic song ended we were both shocked to hear the radio presenter dedicate the Wailer's song to the huge whale that had washed up on the same beach that we parked at, in fact, the huge headless whale corpse was only roughly five hundred meters from us. This must have been around July 21st 2003 I believe.

Ben and I made it to the movie premier and were fortunate to bump into bob making an exit out of the back door to the theatre. We were taking a reefer break and Ben asked him some question that I now forget, and Bob answered with a few words climbing into the old black Jaguar that then sped off into the Santa Cruz night.

From Toad Slime To Ectasy
Since meeting for dinner with RAW, Nancy and Paul Krassner at the Prophets Con. Palm Springs I loosely kept in touch by email. One day in 2002 while I was working at the record Label Cosmic Flux Musiq based on Haight and Filmore street, San Francisco, I received email from Paul informing everyone he was compiling a book of 'anecdotal' drug tales and would be accepting submissions, so that night I worked on a very short story describing my first Psilocybin journey at age 16 and then sent it off the same week.

To my astonishment and gratitude to Paul the story was included in the book that was first published in 2003 by Ronin Press, but has since moved to 'ten speed press', with the title 'MAGIC MUSHROOMS AND OTHER HIGHS: FROM TOAD SLIME TO ECSTASY'. I was pretty surprised to find that Paul has used the 'fly agaric' infused reindeer piss, piss drinking shamans analogy, combined in close proximity with a joke about licking the top right hand corner of page 23, to get high loaded.

Graffiti artist CHU and I had arranged to record a happening at around 9.00 P.M, under the stourbridge viaduct with drums, shakers, voice-box and two recordings devices, a dictaphone and a minidisc. The results can be heard within the audio archive, here.

The amazing synchronicity that Chu and I were a part of that night on our way to the viaduct was the intersection of two double-dekker buses right in front of us, as we crossed the road. The bus that travels from Birmingham to Stourbridge is the number nine bus. Part of our subsequent adventures are partially chronicled at the godisturber web page.

Synchronic Wake
As I hope you have noticed by now I am leaning heavy on my experiences of synchronicity to pinpoint the dates and places upon my ten year journey. Combined with the process of tabulating my dream diaries and notebooks from over this period I aim to create a new digitally networked interface, whereby others can sift through the media I have correlated from my research and expereinces so far.

I hope that this process will keep within my philosophical outlook that recently gained traction from the combination of reading Joseph Campbell's book 'The Hero With A Thousand Faces, and watching the movie 'McLuahn's Wake' just a weeks after diving back into C.G. Jung's 'Mankind and His Symbols', in preparation for my own dream interpretations.

In writing this autobiographical account of my trip to the US I feel it necessary at this early stage to pay further tribute to Dr. Wilson and his work in progress 'the tale of the tribe' that features approx. thirteen characters that carry us through the ages of modern man into post modern, 21st century neurospace.

This network of characters and there ideas are therefore attractive for applying to many other areas of research, which for me has grown into an interactive novel-game called 'OUR HISTORYS BACK' but here I wish to turn the tribe on 'fly agaric' or rather some of the principles I have been expounding on so far, namely, epistemology, mythology, birth-death-rebirth cycles, synchronicity, symbiosis, etc,.

The recurring theme I see is the process of becoming over and over again, as consciousness maybe akin to a tape loop, recording and erasing and remembering somethings. In particular Bruno, Vico, Nietzsche, Yeats, Pound, Joyce and McLuhan can be somewhat generalized as having process oriented motions through their works, the the turning of a spiral-vortex of energy, accumulative, the living cosmos, the recorsi.

Philosofly & Finnegans Awake
Tens of Zillions of critters get high, fall down, sleep and wake up into nature, and this universal process of inebriation can be scientifically demonstrated as a chemical processes in the nervous system. Evolution through inebriation, may therefore imply chemical compounds found naturally abundant such as Peyote buttons, Psilocybin mushrooms, Cannabis, Amanita Caps, etc,. that contain the right chemical mixture and alchemical neurological harmony to bring about vivid highs, sleeps and wakes as we witness in every facet of life.

Lewis Carroll incorporated these chemical reactions into "Alice through the looking glass", utilizing a 'spacetime' morphing literary device, and he included the toadstool symbolism.

The awakening, uprising, resurrection, and coming again, commodius vicus orecirculation, epiphanies, comfortably communicate the "epiphany in synchronicity" I get when reading Joyce's 'Finnegans Wake'.

Magical resurrections can be witnessed, by the seeker in the process about which the Book lends it's title 'Finnegans Wake: an irish Ballad in which a fallen Tim Finnegan is presumed dead, but then springs back to life at his own wake, spirited up out of his coffin by some spilt elixer, song, dance and tales.

Drunken fruit flies, Drunken Amanita eaters and Tim Finnegan communicate my philosofly of evolution through inebriation, partly, and modified from the Lazarus hypothesis put forward by the Italian Botanist Giorgio Samorini.

Final thoughts upon final thoughts of a final (vinyl) theory
In a hazelnut shell, I figure the world is best described as language itself, to propose anything else other than language is romantic and sweet, but ultimately leads to confusion, paradox and terrible surprises of primal beauty.

Therefore my philosophy of Filosofly is what I do, I write and investigate the mythological and etymological pastures where Amanita Musicaria grows, with the added satisfaction of having a large body of academic works on the subject to construct my hypernetwork of connections.

My travels and tales reflect how I picked up some of these ideas and what I have done with them, my synthesis. I hope that others might use some of them, especially the synchroniticities and dreams' that have been somewhat out of my consious control and contain strange interference from an unknown organizing synergy. BLOGS
Blogspot was the first blog-space that I used while living in America. I made a handful of posts and many of these freestyle writings went on to formulate the book: World Piss' The Spore of the Woids. Last year in (2009) this project morphed into SHANNANIGUMS WAVE. Now available at Lulu, and partly at wordspore.blogspot. I blogg over at myspace, (47'000 views).

While living in New Orleans, I started an important poem for me, called TRANE YOURSELF: a homage to John Coltrane, Jazz ployrhythms and African American culture, the theme to some early poems crafted in America, New Orleans, New York, the Bay Area while living on the road.

I am honoured to collaborate on a blog with friends and memebers of the maybelogic academy, and find the IMPERFECT INDEX of ONLYMAYBE a model for this post I'm building here. Onlymaybe or maybelogic.blogspot is kept up and running and brimming with content by Bogus Magus, for the most part.

John Sinclair kicks out a torrent of multimedia every day, and having the great pleasure of having the countercultural giant as a guest here at my home in Amsterdam is a dream come true. I quickly joined in with collaborative 'live' recordings, radio shows and writing projects with John. I am eternally grateful for his patience and kind heartedness in helping me realize my own quest as he shares his own. MD is for MCLUHAN'S DREAM: A short story

In the process of my study into the tale of the tribe I have began creating fictional episodes that link I fly agaric with some of the corresponding themes and characters.

The following is a short dream sequence:

MCLEAR'S DREAM

Mclear’s father drinks some tea from a chalice, and then climbs a ladder set against a house to fetch down a bright green-toad that's stuck up high on the roof, its the pet toad of his cousin, and, while on his way down he slips on a snake masquerading as a step of a ladder, falls, and crushes his head and crushes the toad in the process. Brains, toad slime, jewels merge together at the foot of the ladder and flies appear.

Mclear’s cousin turns into Alice through the looking glass, and shrinks down to the size of a small rodent, she begins munching on Lotus petals that have suddenly sprung up around Mclear's father/mothers corpse. A fly swoons across the body looking for an entry point, the corpse is wearing a white gown and has formed female breasts.

A bomb comes whistling out of the sky, changing into a figure resembling Cuchulain, a giant with twelve arms, each holding an object: A boomerang, a Robert Johnson 78’ disk, a golden jewel encrusted chalice, a smoking pipe styled into the shape of a toad, a totem pole, a telephone receiver/speaker, a small printing press, calendar, Umbrella, TV set and a Video-Camera. The smoking pipe was in the giants mouth and clouds of smoke drifted up and up forming bigger clouds, nebulous, ten miles high or more.

One cloud takes the form of a giant mushroom and descends back to the scene of the accident pitching itself next to the androgynous corpse. The mushroom then morphs again into a small Santa Claus doll that proceeds to administer coca-cola to the corpse, pouring it up the nostrils and letting it fizz all over the face, the body begins to shake.

[A sudden disturbance in the dream sequence, the dreamer has set his alarm-clock one hour too early this morning, but falls back into the tale.]

Mclear’s father/mother corpse, his cousin and himself were now up and bouncing away from the house, jumping on pogo sticks away from where the toad-corpse ooze had released a green fog of flies into the air that set everybody in the village laughing uncontrollably.

Arriving in a wooded area they eventually stop and slump down onto the ground leaning against a birch tree. Suddenly a wheel rolls out into the clearing in front of them, the wheel has a golden apple lodged inside its hollow. Then, as Mclear recalls his dream, ‘we all eat a small piece of the bright green apple and sit back down under the tree again.

In a flash the dreamer has morphed into a Mushroom, stood right in the spot where Mclear once sat. His Father/mother corpse had transformed into a fruit fly and his cousin Mary changed from the image of his grandmother to a toad, who also sits right where she once sat in the wooded clearing.

At this point Mclear describes the sense of an eternity passing, then a jumping muddle of perceptions between the three shape-shifters, triangulated in their sitting positions. The mushroom had only single sight via a tiny periscope inside a white wart, but it released a constant humming sound like a tribal drum in his head when it looked at the fly and the toad looking at back at him.

Suddenly Mclear experienced total ESP with the others, plus he felt a presence coming from the trees and the foliage and the leaves; a low chatter beneath the canopy, they sat motionless, in awe of the infinite stars above them, together in a resonant-field of connection.

In a flash, the fly lands on the mushroom, licks it, and flies off in the direct of the toad, who swiftly snatches the drunken fly out of the air, and swallows it in one gulp. This sequence is seen in slow motion with the silhouette of the action projected by the moonlight.

Cuchulain returns and lands in front of the Toad with a drawn sword and brutally slices it in two. Emeralds and Lapis Lazuli fall-out from the toads head. The fly emerges again from the toads head, shakes, buzzes, flinches a little, staggers up to gather itself and then flies off only a few feet, landing this time on a lotus flower floating upon the pond. The fly is swallowed again by a huge salmon fish, which then in turn is quickly fished out by Cuchulain's fishing rod and set free once more. Cuchulain discovers a golden ring inside the salmon that fits him perfectly.

Ants march into the clearing and gather up the toad-parts mixed with jewels, transporting them back to their nest where together with a mouldy old beetle and a giant snake they rebuild the toad with spittle, venom and fungus.

The toad leaps out of the nest back to the clearing where he spits on the mushroom’s periscopic wart, which transforms the whole mushroom into a massive geodesic object, bejewelled with emerald glow, crystallized and sparkling like Kryptonite.

Cuchulain returned from a gap in a nearby tree trunk, plucked the mushroom from the soil and placed it in his red sack and sprang into the air again with a salmon leap all the way back to the village, where he divided the crystalized green between all the towns people. Everyone got a piece and said a funny prayer, hours later the whole village danced in celebration dressed to look like toads, fly's, snakes and mushrooms.

The identity of the opposites, a central theme of Taoist thought, is indicated early in Finnegans Wake. Through the rest of the book they are split into two figures, but they are constantly changing roles and merging into each other (for instance, in the "Geometry Lesson" chapter, where the Shem-type notes, left side of the page, leap suddenly to the right side, and the Shaun-type notes leap from right to left.) Due to finishing off my Novel that includes the members of RAW’s tale of the tribe scenario Universe, I can’t help but notice that many ideas surrounding the 2012 phenomena – geological phenomena, meteorite strikes, time and calendars, Prophecy, precognition and paranormal phenomena, historicism, cosmology, anthropology and strange alternative ideas to rock the mainstream opinion and poke at the standard model – are treated in a most scientific and rational but far from – dry – manner by RAW. And that’s not news, but I wanted to mention Giambattista Vico in particular – and by default Joyce – due to their correspondence with the principles of world ages – shifting ages – cyclical ages. Here, I guess, might be a good place to start a cross-cultural interdisciplinary study into the 2012 phenomena using Vico, Joyce, McLuhan and Dr. Wilson as quality critters, or guides to processing Maya world ages, the five ages of ancient Greece, Biblical ages, Hindu world age doctrine (Feat. RATIONAL SCALE FOR HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS?

So called "Rational scale to access the harm of (some) drugs"

Dr. John Lilly worked on creating a rational-scale to help good scientific research into drug induced states of consciousness, and other means of attaining altered-states of consciousness. Dr. Timothy Leary also worked his entire life to try to establish a RATIONAL-SCALE to help research into the last frontier of inner-space, consciousness. His results include the 8 Dimensional Model of consciousness, co-created and refined with Dr. Robert Anton Wilson.

Although the following graph-scale (tool) for scientific study into the harm of drugs and the potential for misuse, its my feeling that maybe even David Nutt - the UK's disgraced independent drug researcher - seems stale, when compared with the likes of Lilly, Wilson and Leary who, I think, are the big three tenors of scientific research and experimental feedback upon altered states, and the impact on individuals and society of neurological relativism.

Three texts I would present as examples of superior research and communication concerning "consciousness research" and writing and thinking about "drugs", are:

Drug misuse and abuse are major health problems. Harmful drugs are regulated according to classification systems that purport to relate to the harms and risks of each drug. However, the methodology and processes underlying classification systems are generally neither specified nor transparent, which reduces confidence in their accuracy and undermines health education messages. We developed and explored the feasibility of the use of a nine-category matrix of harm, with an expert delphic procedure, to assess the harms of a range of illicit drugs in an evidence-based fashion. We also included five legal drugs of misuse (alcohol, khat, solvents, alkyl nitrites, and tobacco) and one that has since been classified (ketamine) for reference. The process proved practicable, and yielded roughly similar scores and rankings of drug harm when used by two separate groups of experts. The ranking of drugs produced by our assessment of harm differed from those used by current regulatory systems.
