The Search For Soma takes a left turn, upwards.

http://scfh.ru/en/news/we-drank-soma-we-became-immortal-/

(Hyperlinks to wikipedia by Steve Fly)

“We drank Soma, we became immortal...”

For over a hundred years now, scientists have been discussing what plant was used to prepare Soma (Haoma), a sacred drink of the ancient Indians and Iranians, which "inspired poets and seers, made warriors fearless." The hypotheses were plenty: from ephedra, cannabis, and opium poppy to blue water lily (Nymphaea caerulea) and fly agaric (Amanita muscaria). The answer was found in a grave of a noble woman buried in an elite burial ground of the Xiongnu, the famous nomads of Central Asia.
Importantly, none of the researchers denies the fact that the ancient Indians and Iranians consumed a drink with a psychoactive substance as a sacrament. However, the precise identity of the substance and its plant source, as well as its influence on human consciousness, are still being debated.
The translator and greatest authority on the Rigveda Tatyana Ya. Elizarenkova wrote: “Judging by the Rigvedahymns, Soma was not only stimulating but also a hallucinogenic drink. It is difficult to be more specific not only because none of the plants suggested as soma satisfies all the parameters and only partially answers the description of soma given in the hymns but mainly because the language and style of the Rigveda, an archaic religious tome with the typical features of ‘Indo-European poetic speech’, pose a formidable obstacle to soma identification.” Knowing perfectly well that all the possibilities of the written source had been exhausted, Elizarenkova believed that the answer could come from archaeologists, from “their findings in North-Western India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (and not in remote Central Asia).”
Remarkably, her opinion, expressed 25 years ago, was confirmed by new findings made in Mongolia. No one could have suspected that a grave of a noble woman buried in an elite burial ground of the Xiongnu, the famous nomads of Central Asia, would answer the question asked long ago.
It happened in 2009. A team from the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography SB RAS, which was led by Natalia Polosmak, was performing archaeological excavations in the Noin-Ula Mountains, Northern Mongolia. In tumulus 31, at a depth of 13 meters, the archaeologists discovered a wooden burial chamber. On the floor, which was covered with a thick layer of blue clay, around an old tomb ruined by ancient robbers, there were visible traces of a woollen fabric; this was all that was left of an embroidered strip, which was of great historical value even in this fragmentary state. Textiles are virtually never preserved in ancient graves, and such findings are exceptionally rare. The remains of the textile were retrieved from the grave and delivered to the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography SB RAS. The second life of this remarkable artefact began thanks to Russian restorers.
The craftsmanship and the story unfolding on the threadbare fabric are truly amazing. Embroidered in woollen thread on the thin cloth is a procession of Zoroastrian warriors marching towards an altar; one of them, standing at the altar, is holding a mushroom in his hands.
A distinguishing feature of this embroidery is that the craftsmen did their best to depict the faces, costume, arms, plants, and insects, trying to copy everything from life. According to the mycologist I.A. Gorbunova (Candidate of Biology, senior researcher with the Inferior Plant Laboratory, Central Siberian Botanical Garden, SB RAS), the mushroom depicted on the carpet belongs to the Strophariaceae family. In some ways—the general habitus, shape of the cap, stitches along the edge of the cap reminding of the radial folding or remnants of the partial veil and dark inclusions on the stipe that can remind of a paleaceous ring, which blackens after the spores are puffed—it is similar to Psilocybe cubensis (Earle) Singer [Stropharia cubensis Earle]. Some of the mushrooms of the genus Stropharia cubensis, or Psilocybe cubensis, contain psilocybin—a unique stimulator of the nervous system. In their psychoactive properties, psilocybin mushrooms are much more befitting as vegetative equivalents of Soma, or Hoama, than fly agaric, which was identified with Soma in the Rigveda by R.G. Wasson in his well-known book. His point of view was supported by many famous scientists; the psychedelic theory proposed by T. McKenna even assigns the main role in human evolution to psilocybin-containing mushrooms.
For the first time, we can see vivid evidence, embroidered on an ancient cloth discovered by archaeological excavations, for the use of mushrooms for religious purposes, probably, to make Haoma, a “sacred drink.”
The origin of this embroidery and characters depicted on it is associated with North-Western India and the Indo-Scythians (Sakas). How the embroidered cloth made it into a Xiongnu grave is a surprise of the so-called Silk Road, a network of trade routes crossing the whole of Eurasia. Judging by the Chinese chronicles, veils and blankets from Northern India were highly valued in the Han China.
The woollen curtain with an amazing plot was discovered after its 2,000-year-long confinement in a deep grave, which is a miracle in itself. The curtain is not only a fine example of ancient art, which was recovered thanks to the meticulous work of Russian restorers, but a unique source of information casting light on one of the obscure periods of ancient history.

Reflections on the end of the Mayan Long Count from Chitchen Itza

I had a hoot writing this mish-mash of thoughts and reflections on my trip to Mexico last week, and what it all means, i will probably go back and edit some sense into it. In the meantime, here's my raw spillage on Synthesis 2012.

Thanks

Thanks in no particular order to Fantuzzi, Jaris, Kat, Chris Donagan, Issac, Cappi, The Earthlings, Justin, RC, Spirit Essence, Caroline Casey, Kevin Whitesides, B. Jeff, Frank Gamble, Mark Von Stone, Michael JaiDev, Michael Stocker, John Carlson, Paul Carey, Alphonso, Paula and Paula, Zia, Pitt, Oliver, The Luminaries, Sun Ruh and the Last Dragons, Meghan, the fire dancers, musicians, artists, healers, scholars and freaks  who pulled together under the most challenging circumstances to keep pushing the good vibe.

Saturanlia Panoramas

And so the tribe walked on down to the Mayan site, chanting, dancing, singing smiling, laughing and honouring the local gods, however they please. A moving circus of self-owning ones, minds on the walk, talk tapes unfastened, tired, far from HOME, moving towards the once state-of-the-art city complex of Chitchen Itza in the blueberry dawn, yes, if not just for the invocation of the sun, a new dawn.

We the tribe, discordians, stuck apart, but coming in and out of togetherness, an ooze of disparate creatures in white, domesticated primates with a sack full of mental baggage, some sacks much lighter and better packed, but still, our monkey bodies pulled our saturated fruits on down that road to the  site where we would seed the imagination of the entire planet. Pretty heady stuff for a ripe fruit no doubt and an opportunity for ‘ploughing some field’ in the sense of amplifying certain aspects, turning them over, cycling similar horse manure into the ‘field’. And, simply, wishing for new flowers to bloom. Is this the new age? Haha. Well,…first it depends of what your idea about the meaning of ‘is’ is. And ‘this’ is. Follow me.

I turn over the reins to a Joycean like philosophy, based on maximal play, maximal connectivity, dymaxion maximal tension, and ‘hologrammic’ prose. No Age? Knowage? Nowidge? Gnoeich? Take it or leave it. The language we use and the platforms we adopt to communicate language are the ‘things’ in play, the THINGS in the game. State of the art: sharing.

And, so, if I can leave this writers shell behind, I will write more along the lines of how I felt, with total immersion, and sound effects included. The sweat and heat of the rocks, the condor and the hawks, the trinkets, the chanting, camera flashes. And the food wrappers, button clicks, cell phone GOOD magic and play, the best be those that could weave between worlds, sewing up holes in the global microcosm wild world weavers, with feathers, shells, drums dream catchers, more feathers, teeth and rainbow jewels, crocodile cunning, mantis Yoga. Unified filed of people, doing the human thing, coming into and out of orbit. Into somewhere else, mystics, in the woods among the rocks and glkypix. Talking about wherenit, and why to the when ce fourth . And, he men and women split off into ships, motherships, EARTH central. Soil and hummus, humans, yes, the place alive.

Honoring the local Gods

And honouring the local gods I say, to mean those that I really accent made the unity between tribe, the home at every step, open wisdom and cool disposition. Getting to know the characters you bump into throughout a week of music art, performance and improvised survival in Chitchen Itza, a pretty spooky place, you might hazard a guess to blaze a fire to highlight the game. The whatnowwherewhowhyness?

It’s complicated, and it’s hidden, it’s hidden and always secret. Generally speaking, you know? Love is everywhere and peace permeates all spaces, living in potential, ready to settle into or between the cracks. And so the dead went down to the place of the dead. And the spacetime continuum folded in on itself, if you can imagine that. A cabbage inside a washingmachine, so there we were, carrying our fruits to the site.

Each individual tale of what happened in Chithen Itza is equally valid and should be equally considered as a tale of ‘what’ happened, and defined by that persons point of view (POV). Lets hope that each story can shake loose the hinges of stale bread heads and exhibit a new way to communicate. Mind body peach sitting at the beach helps too, be good to yourself in whatever way makes you feel good, duh!

Chitchen Itza, and Pueblo proved to be a pretty difficult place to communicate from with a limited patchy internet and limited phones and limited help. Which among other things, led to a whole in my ability to feedback real time with what was happening on the Solstice. Only today, 29th December 2012 have I found a chance to search ‘chitchen itza 2012’ in google, and read the articles.

I have been pretty much APPAULED at the quality of sincerity and lack of understanding from the main stream press for over 20 years anyhow, but now, with my experience of BEING THERE, and then seeing images of people reporting to  have BEING THERE, and--what it all means--reminded me of the up-hill struggle of the cop-media to capture anything that resembles ‘wisdom teachings’ and ‘ways’ of the great ancestors, elders, great old ones (GOO).

Apparently the reporters knew all-about the thousands of so called ‘festival goers’ that were honoring 'things and stuff' in very important ways. Bah Humbug, i thought, reading the press releases days later....Internet is a part of this NEW AGE thing too, you know? Visit the latest from CCC at the 29th annual meeting for an update.

I cannot speak for the Mayan ceremonies and rituals performed in and around the site that morning, but they were stunning and awesome sights and sounds to ma' ears. Yes! Easily the most ceremonial and audio heavy activity. Fully authentic sounding and looking, feeling, and smelling. I really felt the energy in the music at that moment.

No, no, no, no, no….THIS is what REALLY happened. (my trip to Chitchen Itza, Mexico, on the Winter Solstice 2012, and cycling day of the Mayan Long Count Baktun ‘measure’ of timespace.

My approach here pays as much respect as I can pay to Caroline Casey for her trickster redeemer qualities and etymological seed-spinning. To invoke play. To propose the open ended mystery, the coming together of the stories, the threads weaving, speaking in tongues, mind-body-speech research, each to their own, and good peace be with em'

Be GOOOOOOOD!

To be nice to each other, have fun and share wisdom, to try and live a life as an example to others, in everything you say do, eat, and play with. The ‘clown’ and the myriad of clowning acts, the prankster and the trickster, the rascal mystic, those that play harder that most scholars, those that wield the wit of a Jonathon Swift, or a Joyce, the playful satirist, cutting deeply into the fabric/skin of our shared linguistic ooze space. Who says it best?

Well, I like mysticism, and I adore mystics, I mean, I like the playfulness and the intelligence game aspect. To mean, the question of ‘what the hell is going on’ is still way up for grabs, but I am excited on behalf of the long lineage of globally active seers, shamans, witches, heretics and what I might call mystic scholars, due to the rise of information technology and the resultant ‘space-time’ we inhabit or co-create as if by magic, out of nothing, total immersion and connectivity to the greatest innovators and masters, and the dullest face smack.

I mean to imply here that a long line of outsiders, those running contrary to the current western paradigm of late capitalist bust bubble life, have been working with ‘code’. Or developing their own communications devices, systems, networks, knowledge bases etc. Today, in the last few days of 2012, it seems apparent to me that there is a BOLD statement that should fly first:

GIVE THE MAGICAL WIZARDS ACCESS TO THE SACRED SITES. Or GIVE THE LOCALS CLEAN WATER, HEALTHY FOOD AND SUFFICIENT TRADE AND BARTER SYSTEMS TO LIVE COMFORTABLY IN THE AREA SURROUNDING THE SITE.

And HONOR the local gods. Dance as they do, drink and laugh and look serious as they do, and you shall have fun, and show your shared satchel of wise-stuffing. Walk with a swank, speak highly and be the change, you wish to see in the world, take responsibility, I suppose. Of course, this is true, but what can we do to support the movement .

Walking down the path to Chitchen Itza with a candle chanting Hoooo Naaaaab Kuuuuu, the sun crept over the bushes like a sniper in orange combats, more than a thousand ‘synthesis people’ snaked on down the trail dressed in white, chanting regalia, singing, praying.

Some line confusion, double ticket gods strike a double blow, along with the ‘no big bag’ gods, who set out their laws straight, not allowing certain shaped bags and objects. The early morning Sunrise inside the Site came quickly, and early, the Mayan ceremony was taking place around the back side of the first pyramid you are confronted with.

I filmed some of their special ceremony and followed a little way, but then i felt a little invasive with my damn Ipad and walked off to the ball court to make a further series of panorama photographs surrounded by fewer tourists (of which i was one)

This introduction to my day, might as well be the introduction, or be somewhere involved with my plan to create a linked panorama tour of my trip, featuring info’ HOTSPOTS and linked media from each space, making a comprehensive ‘tool’ for multimedia interactivity and exploration…gulp……gulp….and FEEDBACK.

The Great Ball Court, Chitchen Itza (North End) in Mexico For me, the New Age did begin in some sense on the 21st December 2012, it was based on a false belief (that the website I was launching with a friend, would be launched LIVE on the 21st at 11.11 GMT) that I did not get to check till later that day, to discover it was NOT YET live. (as of writing this it IS LIVE: www.raw360.net please do go visit and you will see what I mean, wow, wicked work CHU).

Please, just love the earth, and love each other. Not so tricky eh, well, naaa, thought you might grimace with an ending like that. Oh no, not the hippies again. Well, O' yes, me thinks that message, and that of the rainbow people worldwide, the artists and writers, painters, poets, and dancers, is the message: LET US PLAY. Join the dance, the song. Change the darkness and misery into fun and laughter, with some taste if you can muster it. Let us celebrate seduction, illusion, gameplay, strategy, paucity, glossalalia. Love one another, be good, have fun.

4 days until December 21st 2012 by Steven Pratt

“Conspiracy theory, in my humble opinion, is a kind of epistemological cartoon about reality.—Terence Mckenna, Dreaming Awake at the End of Time.

I must remember to remember the 21st of December. Who else will remind me? I must have my room in order and my personal space hoovered and clean, ready for any visitors who might stop by. (little did he know that fly would be playing drums at Chitchen Itza and the birthplace of the Mayan Long Count calendar)

Everything that could happen, will happen. Well, most probably. Well...i mean to say....in some sense, in some universe next door or other, the probabilities are endless. In the universe upstairs everything is different from down here. We inhabit a multitude of universes, each and every one of us uses mind to travel between worlds, inner and outer. We just don't get told this so often, or directed to the mapping room, or to pick up out 'multiverse navigation toolkit'.

But, what of the end of the Mayan calendar cycle? (in just 4 days!) and what of timewave 2012 and Terence Mckenna? and what of a global apocalypse of some kind, take your pick? I have been saying simply, "we are already into the apocalypse, i think, it just depends where you are on earth as to how apocalyptic it seems to you". But that's not really a good enough response is it.?

Well what's with all the big ideas? these great GRAND pronouncements about what may or may not happen? who are we to presume we can know anything about the future. Oh, you have statistics and trajectories, algorithms and data sets, probabilites and possible scenarios. Oh, so those with access to all that data know, or are closer to knowing what (IS) going to happen, better than any Tom, Dick or Harry would know, just surfing around the internet and reading a few books and research papers?

I agree with Terence strongly on his point about story, and the way in which a good story is told, and how the story-telling (tale of the tribe) can convey an equal amount of information content, through cadence, timing and SURPRISE. The contents of the story itself are closer to the form of music than of human speech.

To take a stab a describing what will happen, i predict that imaginations and creative explorations will surge among humans around this time, SURGE! and a small but influencial band of people will birth a new alternative culture by harnessing the outburst of arts, and recording the process for the enjoyment of others. (I must sound like i am talking about myself, and i am, but YOU TO, COME ON)

So much has already been said and published about 21st December i hope not to just be repeating popular cliches. Instead i will switch to describing some work i am involved with and that i feel encompasses some of the wonderous innovations we can expect around about that date: a new way of seeing and interacting with multimedia. (See: www.raw360.net)

John Major Jenkins: Maya Transformation 2012 (2008):

In 2012, if the McKenna scenario is right, comes Omega point.--Cosmic Trigger, pg. 223.

It seems hard to avoid hyperbole when contemplating what this means, depending on your age, sex, location, what you may have read, your outlook on science and mysticism, the drugs you choose to ingest, your optimism versus pessimism ratio, and which side of the bed you got out of this morning.

Depending on the collection of experiences and memories you have, or think you've had, and your techniques and methods of recalling them, you will keep on representing them in a cyclical self-fulfillment prophecy. In short your mode of communication can say as much, if not more, than the contents. "The medium is the message," as Mcluhan put it so well it feels like a joke in 2012. Alan Watts said 'the menu is not the meal'. Korzybski implied that 'isness is an illness', and Robert Anton Wilson developed the field of maybe logic.

So, lets start by agreeing to be careful what you write, and how you say things, or lets be cautious with our language, both writing and reading and speaking to others.

I love art and music and laughter, good food, blue skies, animals, plants, and most of all people. I really do, and, i wish them all well, and, i wish all of us could just get along better, you know? No more wars, no fighting and violence. (like a world full of Bob Marley lyrics in action) A world in harmony with itself, a world of difference and self owning beings discovering the interactions and relationships of life, love and wholeness together, forever. Ahhh.

I have wished hard for the best utopian dreams and fantasies to come down from my dream utopia into our waking life world, the world of work, rent and fear, the world we collectively often refer to as 'the real world' in and around the Black Country (West Midlands, England) and the challenges of earning your living among the working masses of people in the hive minded 'work-consume' dichotomy. A weird dull trip defined by newspaper headlines, popular fizzy drinks and terror-television, the so called 'real world' that does not often question itself, let alone encourage others to begin to formulate good questions. In my experiences living in that world.

However, somewhere along the line of my life experiences up unto this day, October 7th 2012 e.v., i have been blessed/cursed by alternative ways of thinking, and communicating. OH, god, the beauty and gentle comfort of art and philosophy, of music. Music, that soothing vibration, oh i wish i were wrapped up in it all day like silk cushions, and that i wish, i wish, i wish, everyone could have access to as much music, to as much varied music, and arguably, the best music, or the most innovative progressions in music...that they could DREAM of.

I wish that all the musical dreams of those organisms with ears, come true for them and their world of sound. I hope glory and togetherness can be felt by everybody in their own way, to the music of their choice, and i hope it plays on forever for them. Yes, i do. And if you look around about internet these days, its kind of true. Almost everything but live music is in there, just awaiting your ears and your mind and the cultural crossword puzzling can begin. Wow, what a crazy zoo of acts and sounds we have before us today, some of which are religiously popular, especially, i have found, with the young and the infirm.

So, i do wish the best for all people, and i am blowing my trumpet a little bit when it comes to my recurring criticisms, my pessimistic train of thought. A critic aimed at the holes of ignorance i perceive in the enemy. or, those who seem to be poised in positions of power and agency for change on the global scale, yet, refuse to acknowledge what others have figured out to be the most beneficial TO ALL people, thats to mean, all around the world humanity.

If only, IFIF: if only people knew that these problems have already been solved by superior intelligence and basically bigger hearts, the PROBLEMS we encounter today around the world are stemming from ignorance, and controlled hoodwinking of our ability to think for ourselves. Yes, i think there are many conspiracies interfering in the progress of 'around the world humanity', starting with unrestricted finance capitalism, followed by the international war on some drugs, for example. But if the music is real good then you might not even begin to think about these PROBLEMS, oh, the pleasures of white middle class Europe and North America.

But you see now i am already swaying from my positive form, from providing solutions and forgetting about the problems, for a moment, forgetting the government of corporations and church state grid lock, the arms race, the arts heist, the economic brutality and pharmaceutical monopoly on health. Forget that for a bit and relax yourself, maybe turn on some music, relax, find yourself, your place in the universe or spiritual place.

I sometimes hear a voice saying, "For gods sake sit up straight lad, and drink only water in the mornings. Worship the sun, say your prayers, be nice to others, do not kick up a fuss, do not challenge authority or question, your job and social status may depend upon it. I can understand that place too. As Fleetwood Mac say: you can go your own way. Walk on. However, do not take others or yourself too seriously. And be willing to say NO. And BULLSHIT.

Raising Mycelium

Terence Mckenna awakens from a long sleep, an extraterrestrial mycelim strain enters his corpse and reanimates him.

T starts a journey across california to sprinkle the magical mycelium onto the ashes and corpses of  Timothy Leary, Ken Kessey, Robert Anton Wilson and Bill Hicks.

Together, the group travel across the USA to Washington in a yellow bus, taking on the presidential race, the war on some drugs, immortalists, scientologists and fundamentalists of all denominations under the sun.

Upon reaching Washington the group of countercultural zombies stage a psychedelic rock concert. Soon drawing the attention of government officials, the zombies have a stand off with the police, arguing their case on human rights, zombie banks, the war on some drugs, and the death of satire.

The group retires to a new Millbrook in 2013, so developing Artificial General Intelligence and a new open source school for hopen learning, O'pen research. A radiodio show, open-circuit TV, broadercasting services, alive performance space, study area squared, Kitchen Itza, Mu-music rooms.

2012 Singularity Feedback and Video's

HI everybody. I've been following the development of ‘the 2012 phenomena’ and also the more scientific concept of ‘The Singularity’ since I read ‘Cosmic Trigger’ by Robert Anton Wilson and then ‘The Invisible Landscape’ by Dennis and Terence Mckenna, sometime in the mid 1990's.

From these references you might deduct that I have a ‘psychedelic’ bias towards the kinds of maps and metaphors I communicate, this is true, in a nutshell I think that ‘psychedelic drugs’ used in the correct set and setting (see Leary and Wilson) IMPACT the individual in a way approximating the IMPACT that ‘The Singularity’ and the ‘2012 Phenomena’ resonate with, if you choose to TUNE IN. (which I hope to define, somewhat, by this multi-media presentation, relaying some fresh video’s and links which I think summarise our entry into 2012.)

Whatever 'media or drugs' you interact with, set and setting are important, those who have experimented with psychedelic drugs (at some period of their life) generally, seem to have a grasp on strange resonance with topics concerning 'The Singularity' and the '2012 Phenomena', somewhat familiar territoy to those who have expored inner space and outer, poetry and literature, psychology, engineering, mathematics, anthropology, futurism, ethnobotany, games, music, painting etc.

(Please do not ascribe my own 'Psychedelic bias' to the ideas and words from those in the following video's. Just have fun with your thoughts, I'll be back with more feedback after digesting them again). --Steve fly.

"The rise of the web has been a great boost to my fantasies along these lines, because now i can see with the Web from here to the eschaton. Apparently, it's a technology for dissolving space, time, personally and just releasing everybody into a data stream, something like the imagination. Then that's why the ultimate technological fantasy along this line of thought is what is conventionally called a time machine.

There's an interesting aspect to the time machine. The wave describes the ebb and flow of novelty in time, but then you reach a point where it's so novel that it fails beyond that point. Well, a time-traveling technology would cause such a system to fail, because it's a description of the unfolding seriality of linear events, which a time machine would disrupt.

So it may be that it isn't explosion of the sun, or the coming of the aliens, or the descent of the second person of the Trinity, it's simply that a technology is put into place that destroys linear time and, from thence forward, when you give your address you have to say not only where but when. There are some problems with this.

And then here is a slightly more interesting and woo-woo scenario. The thing that's called the grandfather paradox - somebody pointed out it's not called the father paradox because apparently you want to avoid an Oedipal situation - and it's simply the following objection: if you could travel into the past, you could kill your grandfather. If you killed your grandfather, you wouldn't exist. Therefore, you couldn't travel into the past. Therefore, time travel is impossible.

One idea i have for an end of history scenario: Time travel becomes more and more discussible, finally there are laboratories working on it, finally there is a prototype machine, finally it's possible to conceive of a test; and so on the morning of December 12, 2012, at the world Temporal Institute headquarters in the Amazon Basin, by a worldwide, high definition, three-dimensional hook up, the entire world tunes in to see the first flight into time. And the lady temponaut comes to the microphone and makes a few brief statements, hands are shaken, the champagne bottle is smashed, she climbs into her time-machine, pushes the button and disappears into the far flung reaches of the future. Now, the interesting question is, what happens next? And i have already established for myself that you can travel backwards into the past, but you can't travel further into the past than the invention of the first time machine, for the simple reason that there are no time machines before that, and if you were to take one where there are none, you get another paradox.

So what happens when the lady temponaut slips into the future? Well, i think what would happen a millisecond later is tens of thousands of time machines would arrive from all points in the future, having come back through time, of course, to witness the first flight into time. Exactly as if you could fly your beachcraft back to Kitty hawk, North Carolina, to that windy morning when the Wright brothers rolled their flyer out and fueled 'er up. And that's as far as the road goes. That's the end of the time road.

But the grandfather paradox persists. One of those time travelers from 5,000 years in the future, on their way back to the first time-travel incident, could stop and kill his grandfather, and then we have this whole problem again. So i thought about this for a long time, and i think i've found my way around it. But, as usual, at the cost of further weirdness.

Here's what would really happen if we invented a time machine of that sort. The lady temponaut pushes the button, and instead of all time machines appearing instantly in the next moment, in order to preserve the system from that paradox, what will happen is, the rest of history of the universe will occur instantly. And so that's it. I call it the God whistle.

This is because you thought you were building a time machine, and in a sense you were, but the time machine isn't what you thought it was. It caused the rest of time to happen instantaneously, and so the furthest out developments of life, matter, and technology in the universe can right up against you a millisecond after you break that barrier, and in fact you discover that traveling time is not traveling time, it's a doorway into eternity, which is all of time, and that's why it becomes more like a hyperspatial deal than a simple linear time-travel thing.

There's been a parallel development which has caused me to be more confident. We're now beginning to build this parallel world called the Wolrd Wide Web. And you can bet that long before we reach 2012, the major religions of the world will build virtual realities of their eschatological scenarios. There will be the Islamic paradise, the Christian millenium, the Buddhist shunyata - these will be channels that you tune into to see if you like it and want to join, so in a sense guaranteeing we will have a virtual singularity.

It's all very well to try to understand the end point, but recall that where we are relative to the end point is in resonance with the year 950 AD. We're like the people in 950 AD trying to understand the web, the hydrogen bomb and the catscanner. How can we? My God, we don't even have calculus yet. Newton hasn't been born yet, let alone Einstein. I mean we're running around - essentially we're primitives, is what i'm saying. We don't have tools yet to conceive of the object of 2012. We must build those tools between now and then. And good places to start are with the web, psychedelic drugs, whatever is the most cutting edge and most far out.

AM is for Alight Matter: MAYBELOGIC QUARTERLY

On August 5th, 1945 a Mushroom cloud appeared over Hiroshima, illustrating humanities latest technological breakthrough in Killingry: the ability to kill more and more people in less and less time. 21st century technology can either help people to live joyously and cooperatively or force them to die quicker. The choice is ours. But the hours are not all ours.

The first neurotransmitter known to science; Acetylcholine, was identified in 1914 at the breakout of the first world war by Henry Hallett Dale while doing research on heart tissue, Henry went on to win a nobel prize for his rediscovery. The devastating killingry made possible by biological nerve weapons of mass destruction, and other secret nerve agents, are partly due to their inhibition of acetylcholinesterase in the victims. Constant stimulation of the muscles glands and the central nervous system are the terrible symptoms. Popular insecticides inhibit this enzyme too and destroy targeted insects, such as fungas gnats and green fly.

On a more positive tip, Muscarine, a subdivision of Acetylcholine and a neurotransmitter in both the peripheral and central nervous system, can be used to treat Alzheimer's disease and other complications involving abnormal muscle relaxation. The stimulation of the muscle glands through Muscarine acts as an example of a drug being used intelligently and positively as a medicine to help prolong life and help the ill, rather than provoking illness and leading to the annihilation of life.

During the rainy season in the sonoran deserts in Colorado, America, people make a sacred pilgrimage to communicate with little green non-human entities. Small, soft and velvety to touch, with cute little emerald heads that are full of jewles, these holy amphibian drug dealers can each individually deliver enough psychopharmacological energy force to launch, as Ralph Metzner puts it: six to eight adult human beings, potentially, into cosmic hyperconsciousness; into the heart of creation, while returning them safely to their original human form shortly afterwards. A loving example of inter-species communication between mankind and amphibians.

Paradoxically entomology is the scientific study of insects, while etymology is the study of the origins of words. Drosophila_melanogaster is the common species of fruit fly used in genetics experiments ever since GM kicked off around 1910 AD. Most of our modern pharmacological technology and genetic advances are indebted to humble flies while various chemical discoveries are due to extracts from their toadstool namesake: fly agaric.

Italian Ethnobotonist and Ethnomycologist Giorgio Samorini came up with a brilliant new hypothesis called the Lazarus fly, published in his illuminating book; Animals and Psychedelics. This enchanting social-biological observation provides strong scientific evidence for a minded symbiotic relationship between toads, flies and fungi. Buzzillions of flies and fungus gnats throughout history have licked Amanita Muscaria and become as inebriated as Tim Finnegan, stoned, drunken, delirious meals for hungry toads, and other forest-floor foragers who may or may not have picked up this evolutionary advantage, probably tuned in while hanging around mushrooms. This strong, undiluted 70% proof of interspecies communication occuring in forests all over the natural world, illuminates an important etymological keystone; a symbiosis so ancient that it's imediate implications demand an entire scientific and poetic revolution. The buzz term in this field is zoopharmacognosy: the study, celebration and liberation of animals, bugs and plants that mindfully use themselves as inebriating medicine as a kind of novel evolutionary advantage.

Mycoremediation is a term spun by mycologist Paul Stamets and roughly translates as environmental renewal by using fungus. The relative scientific facts about mycoremediation are inspirational for all critterkind facing global meltdown and mindless industrial, global pollution. Fungi have their own kingdom of nature, yet every individual spore is a Tsar: they do not have leaders or Kings in their fungal kingdom, in contrast to human oligarchy. They charitably recycle billions of tons of natural and man made waste products for free so that plants, animals and humans benefit with furtile soils and healthy nutrients to live together happily with. In kaleidoscopic contrast we have the civilized Homo sapien species, who are without shadows of doubt, the greatest natural disaster to explode themselves on this beautiful and life sustaining free planet. Fungus; through their bioremediation are our saviors in some sense. Our shit munching little helpers in another. Literally: mothers little helpers.

Muscarine occurs inside the fetching fly agaric species of mushroom alongside some other psychopharmacological secret agents: ibotenic acid, muscazone and muscimol. Fly agaric and many other fungi in the agaric family are spread far and wide across planet earth. Due to the lack of fungal fossil records we have no specific scientific data pinpointing exactly how long these toadstools have been here, although it's safe to say longer than homo sapiens. Scientific research upon this particular species of fungus has led to many compounds used to increase longevity. Alternatively, other fly agaric extracts can dramatically paralyze biological life, much like usury paralyzes wealth by asphyxiating the natural abundance of nature, blocking her will. Some scholars such as the part time banker at J.P Morgan, and part time mycologist; Richard Gordon Wasson, have suggested that fly agarik is the mythical plant/drug/drink known widely as Soma; highly regarded in the sacred Hindu texts called the Rig Vedas.

Terence Mckenna has proposed that psylocybin containing mushrooms and not Amanita mushrooms maybe a more fitting candidate for the mighty Soma complex due to their stronger psychoactive properties. Other theories propose Soma to be an alchemical combination of various psychoactive vegetables. Thousands of years ago Soma was celebrated as the divine ambrosia of immortality. Today scientists can show how the chemical muscarine lives up to this description by providing useful medical drugs that help prolong life. The great Aldous Huxley deployed SOMA as a literary device in his novel Brave New World, Soma's function in this novel was an opiate of the masses substituting religion and other stimulants popular with Homo sapiens. This excellent distopian device scares me relatively more than Eric Blair's Big Brother and his similar critically paranoid, Nineteen Eighty Four. Although to me, both of these novels seem like fairy stories when compared with the terrifying phenomenon known worldwide as satan claus.

Spearheading the rapidly expanding field of evolutionary epistemologyThe Lazarus fly provides a stunning example of a tight biosemiotic epistemological fit; snug as a bug in a rug. An ancient motherfucking most mysterious matrix tale. An epic love story providing semiotic insights into one of the strangest sociobimaybelogical, tragic/comic romances upon spaceship earth. That's until some entity proposes superior scientific research data to challenge it.

The term to identify flies in latin is musca. Semiotics used as a method applied to fairy myth helps to refine a linguistic approach and attempts to find the 'words' of it's universal lunguage. Many people who choose to ingest psychedelicsgenerally experience a dramatically increased sense and sensibility of light, ranging from tranquil and soft star sparkles, flares, dancing multicolored flames; and the warm sense that billions of torches are searching through fiber-optic energy channels in their body. ToThunder. Lightening. Flashes of explosive photonic bombardment. From all quarters. Blinding. Fractal. Hyperspatial travel. Annihilation. Super nova neural explosions. Atomic detonation of physical boundaries. Energy flashes. Repeating visions. Safely tucked away behind the eyelids.

According to some Christian theology God muttered let there be light, and then, there was light. Bioluminescence is a relatively knu scientific term describing biological cells that emit light photons known as biophotons. Many of the brighter investigative researchers within this glowing field propose that DNA RNA is perpetually emitting these biophotons, and has been doing so since the first RNA DNA molecular poets resurrected themselves upon spaceship Earth. Because of the relatively weak broadcasting strength of these biophotons only recently has modern science and it's post-modern instrumentation rediscovered these ancient auras and properly acknowledged their universality among all RNA DNA coded critters. In the Tibetan book of the Dead there are six lights which correspond to six realms of existence - traditionally, the realm of the gods, jealous gods (asuras), humans, animals, hungry ghosts and hell beings. These lights are also known as the lower lights.

An ever growing population of anthropologists and scientists have visited and participated in ancient sacred vegetable rites and ceremonies and journeyed back to a western scientific paradigm with reality shattering alternative maps, models and novel metaphors. Brave Knu tempronauts vividly describe incredible visions; tales of serpents, jaguars, Pink river dolphins, insectoid timespace traveling anthropologists, many headed monsters with gnashing teeth, light beings, diamond encrusted dancing angels, self transforming basketball elf chemists, E.T's, ghosts of vegetation spirits, deities, superluminous skyladders leading to star systems. This dissolution of boundaries between human, animal, insect, vegetable and amphibian kingdoms into a twilight of pastiche, seems, most likely to me, that under the extra sensory perceptive conditions of certain psychopharmacological agents, the RNA DNA emitted biophotons that are contained within all life on earth suddenly appear detectable to our interacting human nervous system. We literally begin to see the photons, reflect, and then feel what's the matter. And we interpret this light according to our own individual glosses, our neuropsychological and neurosemantic belief systems. I'm doing this right now, and so are you!

The perceived fire inside of fireflies or the lightening inside of lightening bugs is known to scientists as Luciferin. Jellyfish, and Antarctic Krill also contain Luciferin. These creatures translate and amplify the light to such a degree that they appear to human and other sufficiently accomplished seeing critters, as ill with a case of the luminous. Yet, if we could increase our sensitivity to light then maybe all DNA RNA based life would appear illuminated?

Coincidently, illumination or enlightenment [the concept] often appears to critters under the influence of psychoactive compounds or what may be more poetically called entheogens [messengers of metempsychosis from within]. And God said: let there be light, but the meter remained and empty woid.
